Mar phàirt den phrògram gus toglaichean Eilean Iarmain agus an sgìre mu chuairt air ath-nuadhachadh, chaidh an tùr cruinn, a dhealbh Sir Iain Noble, Bàr a’ Phràban agus an dà sheòmar cadail gu h-àrd a chur ris ann an 1976. Roimhe bha an t-seann Bhothan fiodha ann agus ‘s iomadh cèilidh a chaidh a chumail ann gu uairean beaga na maidne. Bha an t-seann bhàr seo làn caractar ach ag aodion gu dona agus bhathar a’ cumail a-mach nam biodh feum aig neach sa bhàr air boinneag uisge san dram aige, nach fheumadh e ach a ghlainne a chumail fon uisge a bha a’ sruthadh tron mhullach!
As part of the programme of restoration of Eilean Iarmain and the area, the conical roofed circular tower, designed by Sir Iain Noble, along with the Pràban Bar and the two bedrooms above were added in 1976. Prior to this there had been the old wooden Bothan Bar, which had witnessed many a ceilidh till dawn. This characterful bar leaked badly and it was said that if a customer needed a drop of water in his dram of Uisge Beatha, he needed only to hold his glass momentarily under the drops of rain leaking through the roof!
