B’ e fear air an robh Lachlan ‘na mine’ a bha a’ coimhead às a dhèidh fad grunn bhliadhnaichean agus bha e a’ fuireach a seo le a bhean agus an t-sianar chloinne aca. Chaidh na h-uinneagan mòra a tha a’ coimhead chun ear-thuath, le na leacan cloiche breagha mun cuairt orra agus àrd-dorsan air an sgeadachadh le seanfhacail Ghàidhlig, a dhealbhadh agus a choimiseanadh ann an 1991 le Sir Iain Noble. Sgrìobhte os cionn na h-uinneige air an làimh chlì tha na briathran, “Beul a labhras ach gnìomh a dhearbhas” agus air an làimh dheis tha “’S math an sgàthan sùil caraid”. The building we now know as Gallery An Talla Dearg was once the Old Meal Store for the sacks of oatmeal. It was overseen for many years by Lachlan ‘na mine’, who lived here with his wife and six children. The large north east facing windows in the front wall of the Talla Dearg with their fine stone surrounds and lintels incised and gilded with Gaelic proverbs, were designed and commissioned in 1991 by Sir Iain Noble.
