Second donation from lockdown lunch deliveries will benefit the South Skye community 🍲❤️😊
The team at Hotel Eilean Iarmain are donating a further sum of money to the South Skye Community Nurses Fund through the hot lunch deliveries provided by the hotel during the second lockdown.
The hotel staff delivered the popular weekly lunches to members of the Sleat Lunch Club who, due to COVID-19 restrictions, have been unable to meet for their regular get together in the hotel.
A total sum of £1,520 was raised through contributions from Sleat Lunch Club members during the last lockdown and will once again be donated to the South Skye Community Nurses Fund.
The success of the service was down to the collaborative team effort of staff from both Hotel Eilean Iarmain and their sister hotel, The Inn At Àird a’ Bhàsair whose chefs, Donnie Belcher and Will Hannah, stepped in to provide assistance in preparing the meals for a number of weeks.
All staff who were involved very much enjoyed the engagement with the local community and it brought about a real sense of camaraderie in such unusual circumstances.
Lucilla Noble said, “Anne Mackenzie and her excellent team of nurses provide an invaluable service for our community and I’m delighted to give our support to them by donating the monies raised through our lockdown lunch deliveries to our friends of the Sleat Lunch Club. During both lockdown periods we looked forward to our delivery runs and with many members of the Lunch Club having long associations with Eilean Iarmain it gave us all plenty of happy opportunities to catch up and to reminisce. We are all looking forward to the time when we can safely welcome back the Club members to the hotel.”
District Nurse, Anne MacKenzie, commended and thanked Hotel Eilean Iarmain for the donation to the Fund. “The South Skye Community Nurses are delighted to accept this second donation of £1520 from Hotel Eilean Iarmain for their equipment fund. It is especially heart-warming that the money raised from the second lockdown lunches will be used for the comfort of patients in the South Skye community.”
In recognition of the initiative, the hotel was awarded a certificate of special commendation for their “COVID-19 Crisis Community Generosity” from the Scottish Hotel Awards in July 2020.
