Here at Hotel Eilean Iarmain we are right at the heart of 2 working crofting villages, Camuscross and Duisdale. The community is very active and we are lucky enough to have a local clientele who frequent the hotel. In recent years, the community has also built a community centre, cafe and village shop at ‘An Crùbh’ near to the hotel, which is very handy for local people and our guests. This December, 2 residents of Camuscross, Nicola Thomson and Floraidh Forrest have revived a dormant community newsletter and we are delighted to help support this publication by having it available for guests in the hotel and also contribute to the cost of this publication that appears every 2 months.
Nicola Thomson who helped produce the latest issue with editor Floraidh Forrest said,
We were keen to restart our community newsletter, ‘An Lianag’, as it’s a great way of keeping everyone up to speed on what’s been happening, celebrating local successes, especially our youth, and it is a chance to highlight some of our culture and environment, by inviting local contributors with specific interests. We know just how useful and interesting these resources can be when looking back.
Each issue will also feature a page of news from Hotel Eilean Iarmain and we wish ‘An Lianag’ all the very best in its new endeavour. You can see the new publication here.
